ABOUT THE ART OF WALKING & THE IMPORTANCE OF SITTING

Reflection of Life: How often does something happen in our lives, good or bad, and how often do we meet a person, desirable or not so, that leaves such a deep impression that we are unable to move past it? That event or that person will play on our minds and weave themselves into our every day lives. Like a badly mixed wash, everything takes upon it the colours of the garments with a strong and transient dye. All can become a colour which is not clear and true, and no longer it’s own.

How often have we taken a walk, and realized that, in the walking, knots that get stuck in our minds, our guts and our hearts can be loosened?

Walking is a releaser of stuck energy, an unraveller of knots: It releases the energy of the liver and aids free flow. Talking engages the energy of the heart and can powerfully release all from within.

In writing this reflection of life, I have taken my mixed wash and separated the garments. I have washed them and washed them until the whites have become white again, the reds a true red, the greens a meadow of loveliness and the yellows reminiscent of the morning sun. I can reflect upon the colours of my life and wear them as I choose in all their clear vibrancy.

The Art of Walking is a reflection of life, a memoire of some of the good and bad of my lives. It is an attempt to find the lesson in the walks I have taken and the people I have met. The writing of the chapters has helped me to see my life clearly (from my own perception). I hope it will amuse, or bewilder, or at least resonate with you. Most of all I hope it will entice you to do the same – to share your walks, your stories, publicly or privately, and to find freedom from, amongst, and within the soul that you are. We are all one.

Namaste. So much love.

What do we mean by the word stress? The broken boiler which we can’t fix? The dog next door who keeps on barking? The customer who never pays on time? The mother-in-law who calls every time we sit down to watch the football? The bill we can’t pay? Are these causes of...

Random Acts of Conversation – A Legacy

“Can I tell you something?” This is how it started. No niceties about the day - just a random and direct request for conversation. I had been crossing paths with a woman on my everyday walk for a few days. She was a runner. I was a walker. I had been watching her. She...
